Week 1 of the cross country season delivered some standout performances - now it's your turn to decide who earns the spotlight!
Boys Nominees
Henri Rivard - The senior from Marshwood opened his season at the Bonny Eagle Relays. He used a strong kick over the final 200m to pull away from Atticus Merriam for the victory, clocking 8:47 for 1.7 miles.
Alex Gilbert - Gilbert opened his season on his home course at the Falcon 4k. He showed patience running with the pack early on before opening up his lead throughout the race to earn the win in 12:33.3 to set a new course record.
Levi Riggs - Took the win at the Laliberte Invitational at Cony as he used his speed to hold off William Morris of Dirigo to earn the win 13:05.50 to 13:06 over the 4k course.
Jackson Libby - The GNG senior cruised to a seven-second victory at the Dan Dors Invitational at Lake Region High School on Friday. He was the only one in the field to crack the 18-minute barrier with his 17:57 winning effort.
Enzo Giampaolo - Lewiston senior opened his season at the Panther 2-mile at Medomak Valley with a 10:25.53 clocking to earn the victory by six seconds over Sam Tooley of Camden Hills.
Girls Nominees
Laurel Driscoll - Scarborough senior used her lethal kick to overcome a great effort from freshman Nora Schmidt of Portland to win at the Bonny Eagle Relays 9:48 to 9:49 for 1.7 miles.
Lucy Huggett - Huggett established herself from the opening gun and ran away from the pack, extending her lead throughout the race as she clocked 14:45.08 for 4k to break the course record. Her winning margin was 1:20.
Karen Higgins - The Lincoln Academy transfer opened her junior year with a dominating win at the Panther 2-mile. Higgins clocked 11:44.64 to win by just under a minute.
Grace Alexander -Waynflete's standout Alexander impressively opened her 2025 season, clocking 19:51 to become the only runner under 20 minutes. She dominated the field with a commanding 2:26 margin of victory.
McKenzie Boyle - Boyle bested the field at the Laliberte Invitational with her winning effort of 17:47.60 over the 4k course.
