Erskine Girls, Boys Celebrate Homecoming with Wins

Last Friday remnants of a hurricane brought rain and winds that forced a postponement of Erskine Academy's Homecoming meet. Today, with faces and hair painted blue and white, the Erskine girl's and boy's teams won a four team meet in KVAC action at Erskine's 5K course.

The girl's race was won by junior Rhiannon LaPlante of Skowhegan, who covered the course in 22:10.  Behind LaPlante, Erskine placed six girls in the top ten to outpace Skowhegan, Gardiner and MCI for the win.  Junior Marissa Bovie led Erskine, finishing in second, 23 seconds behind LaPlante, and senior Mallory Rausch finished fifth.  Christy Smith of Skowhegan (third) and sophomore Paige Grady of Gardiner (fourth) rounded out the top five.

In the boy's race, the Erskine boy's scored a perfect 15 and took the top six positions before Brad McCollett and Mike Tarrio, both juniors from Gardiner, broke things up in seventh and eighth, respectively.  Junior Eben Hodgkins won his third meet in a row, finishing the home course in 16:32, followed by seniors Jarrod Lenfest (2nd) and Matt White (3rd), sophomore Ethan Bronson (4th), and junior Brendan Wood (5th).
