Mt. Ararat & Scarborough boys tie | Mt. Ararat girls dominate in winning Bowdoin Relays

 

There were several outstanding performances at the Bowdoin Relays to open the 2010-11 indoor track season in Maine. On the day a total of 46 state qualifying marks were met. There were 6 Milesplit National Elite Marks set as well.

Boys Mile (State Qualifiers) from 3xMile    Video Section 4

Lewiston behind Hussein Ibrahim's (4:39.53) held off a strong challenge from Mt. Ararat to win the 3xMile in 14:22.43 to win by 4 seconds. There were 10 state qualifying marks in this race.

Boys Shot Put (State Qualifiers) Greely dominated the field today behind huge openers from their two seniors Michael Burgess, the defending Class B State champion who had a personal best 51-5, his teammate Jack Fellows was strong as well getting the shot put out to 48-9. Greely totaled 134-6 to win the event

Girls Shot Put (State Qualifiers) Thornton Academy senior Abby Huntress opened her season with a win over defending Class A champ Randi London (Mt. A). Huntress was one ft better at 36-11 to London's 35-11. Huntress lead her TA team to a win as they were the only team over 100ft (101-4).

Boys Long Jump (State Qualifiers)

Outdoor state Class A state champion McKenzie Gary opened up his 2010-11 seaosn with a fine 20-6 leap to win the event by more than a foot. Gary's jump was key in Ararat's winning relay which covered a distance of 54'3.

Girls Long Jump (State Qualifiers)   Scarborough goes 1-2 behind Emilia Scheemaker (15-6) & Emily Tolamn (15-0) to claim team title with total distance of 42-9.

Boys Triple Jump (State Qualifiers)

McKenzie Gary (Mt. Ararat) dominated the triple jump, winning by 4 feet with his 42-9 mark. The Eagles of Mt. Ararat won the relay with a combined distance of 108-5

Girls Triple Jump (State Qualifiers)

Emilia Scheemaker won her 2nd jumping event of the day when she got out to 33-9, her jump was over a foot better than Olivia Thurston (WTVL). Mt. Ararat behind Madison Prescott's 3rd place totaled 89-9 to hold off a strong challenge from Greely 88-3.

York dominated the high jump taking the two top spots behind Tyler Martin(6-0) & Mike O'Connor(5-10), they tallied 16-11 as a team.

Girls High Jump (State Qualifiers)

Thornton Academy dominated the event with 4 state qualifiers. Abigail Mondor led the way with a 5-0 clearance. Colby Gail (Mt. A) was back in the event after missing all of last year with an ACL injury, she cleared 5-0. TA totalled 14-6 to win the event.

Boys Pole Vault (State Qualifiers)   Highlight Video

Mike Slovenski vaulting for the Knicks track club as the Brunswick team wasn't allowed to compete as they had a bomb scare at their school on friday, took the vault with a 14-9 clearance, he went for a new indoor pr of 15-3 but came up short. Scarborough won the event with a total of 25-0.

Girls Pole Vault (State Qualifiers)

Jaclyn Masters (EL) opened with a 9-6 clearance while Andrea Tolman was almost as good clearing 9-0. Tolman led Scarborough to team win as the Red Storm tallied 21-0
