Hampden Academy boys & Bangor girls win EMITL Indoor Championships

 EMITL-PVC CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS

 

The Hampden Academy Broncos held off a challenge from Old Town to captured the Boys EMITL-PVC indoor team title 1006-98 On the girls side rival Bangor & Brewer went toe to toe, with the Rams getting the better of the Witches 102-91. The girls meet was highlighted by some big time performances as 3 girls won 3 events. Highlighting the action was Teal Jackson (Brewer) 3 new state leading marks 7.40, 59.49, & 26.60 (55m, 200m, 400m). Grace Maclean (Bangor) & Michelle Haluska (Brewer) also won 3 events, they along with Jackson were names three outstanding meet performers. On the boys side Old Town's triple winner Jake Leithiser was selected as the boys outstanding performer.

 

BOYS

Old Town star Jake Leithiser was on top of his game winning 3 individual events. Jake opened with a 7.99 performance in the 55m hurdles, which is just off his state leading 7.97. He followed that up with a 6-2 win in the HJ, and also took the 400m in 52.09

 

Freshman Dan Curts (Ellsworth) added the distance double taking the mile 4:38.3 & 2 mile10:15.77

 

Evan Piccirillo (Hampden) takes the 800m race 2:03.86

 

Fast 200m from Orono's Miguel Caballero as he rips 23.29

 

Old Town cranks a fast 4x200 1:35.42 without Leithiser, to hold off a strong run from Hampden 1:36.63

 

Tristan Wortman (Brewer) new personal best 13-1 in the vault remains state #2 and Class A #2 performer

 

Matt Richard (Old Town) takes the triple jump going out over 40ft, 40-10 3/4

 

GIRLS

 

Grace Maclean (Bangor) returns to form in the 55m hurdles clocking 8.91 in the prelims then the ties for Class A leader in the finals 8.81, also adds a win in the long jump 16- 4 3/4 (Class A #3 performer), adds 3rd victory with a 5-2 clearance

 

Teal Jackson (Brewer) goes off in the 55m, 7.58 prelim then blitzes to a 7.40 for a new state leader in the final, 6 girls under 7.89 in the final!!!

Jackson adds the 400m 59.49 new state leader for her 2nd win, then caps it off with her 3rd individual win and 3rd state leader on the day in 200m 28.60!!! (4 girls sub 27 in the race including Maddie Page (Hermon) 26.88 Class B #2

 

Michelle Haluska (Brewer) pulls of the distance triple, winning the mile 5:28.56, 800 2:24.81 (holds off a valiant challenge from Katie Feeney (Hermon) 2:24.99), Haluska time is state #4, and Feeney state #6, in the 2 mile she fends of a challenge from Brianne Dunn (Ellsworth) 12:23.12 to 12:25.57

 

Kayla Brooks (Old Town) has a big day in the triple jump with a huge seasonal best and state #4, Class B #2 34-7 1/2 leap
