KVAC CLASS B MEET HIGHLIGHTS
The Waterville Purple Panthers tuned up for the state meet with two dominating team wins. On the girls side Waterville scored 177.5 points to defeat runner-up Winslow by 87.5 points. On the boys side of the action it was much of the same as Waterville tallied 155 to outdistanced Erskine Academy by 57. Check back for more highlights tomorrow. There were 3 new state leading marks all on the girls side. Bethanie Brown won the mile 5:16.47 & 2 mile 11:34.02 for two new distance state leaders, while teammate Olivia Thurston clocked 8.79 in the 55m hurdles. On the boys side Waterville standout Isaiah Spofford added 3 wins, 55m, LJ, 200m, while Eben Hogdkins (Erskine) pulled off the distance triple
BOYS
Isaiah Spofford (Waterville) wins 55m (6.75), then clocks a seasonal best, Class B #2 23.19 in the 200m, and finishes off with a 19-8 3/4 win in the LJ.
Eben Hodgkins (Erskine) takes the mile 4:41.54, then adds the 800m 2:07.51, and completes the distance triple with a 10:19.92 2 mile
Lani Eversage (Belfast) improves his 400m time in winning 52.24
Alex Rowe (Waterville) pops off a huge one in the triple jump 42-6 1/2 (State #3, Class B #1)
GIRLS
Bethanie Brown (Waterville) has a huge day with an impressive distance doubles that includes 2 new state leaders in the mile & 2 mile. In the mile Brown improves her time 8 seconds down to 5:16.47, then in the 2 mile lowered her state leading mark down another 10 seconds, clocking 11:34.02
Olivia Thurston (Waterville) has a breakthrough in the 55m hurdles clocking 8.79 for a new state leading performance, then comes back in 400m to clock 61.6 for win #2, Class B #3)
Hannah Hill (Belfast) ups her Class B leader in the triple jump to 35-3 1/2, mark is state #2
