Several Maine high school athletes recorded personal bests during competition the week of May 11.
Tadhg Lake (Cheverus/Waynflete) ran 10:09.61 in the boys' 3200 meters at the Biddeford-Cheverus-Portland meet at Massabesic on May 11, improving from his previous best of 10:58.05 set in April. The sophomore won the race among six competitors and set a school record while moving to #7 in Maine and #2 among state sophomores.
Carina Castagna (Leavitt Area) clocked 15.72 in the girls' 100 hurdles at the Marathon Sports Elite Invitational on May 16, lowering her previous mark of 16.27. The senior placed third among 24 competitors and ranks #3 in Maine and #1 among state seniors. Castagna also ran a personal best 48.42 in the 300 hurdles, improving from 48.45.
Brookelin Dorman (Nokomis) ran 13.17 in the girls' 100 meters at the Marathon Sports Elite Invitational on May 16, bettering her previous best of 13.53 from May. The junior finished seventh among 41 competitors and ranks #25 in Maine and #12 among state juniors.
Nathaniel Knowles (Brunswick) ran 2:10.30 in the boys' 800 meters at the Skowhegan Area meet on May 14, improving from his previous time of 2:23.79. The junior placed third among 17 competitors and ranks #82 in Maine and #23 among state juniors.
Tommie Mannion (Marshwood) clocked 2:08.45 in the boys' 800 meters at the Gorham-Marshwood-Sanford meet at Westbrook on May 13, lowering his previous best of 2:18.24 from January. The sophomore finished third among 17 competitors and ranks #57 in Maine and #9 among state sophomores.
Cassidy Hickey (Sanford) ran 13.37 in the girls' 100 meters at the Marathon Sports Elite Invitational on May 16, improving from 13.70 set in May. The junior placed 13th among 41 competitors and ranks #42 in Maine and #17 among state juniors. Hickey also ran a personal best 1:04.49 in the 400 meters, improving from 1:05.59.
Soni Pan (Fryeburg Academy) clocked 13.17 in the girls' 100 meters at the Marathon Sports Elite Invitational on May 16, bettering her previous mark of 13.37 from May. The freshman finished eighth among 41 competitors and ranks #25 in Maine and #3 among state freshmen.
