Maine Outdoor Breakthrough Performances: Week of May 11

Several Maine high school athletes recorded personal bests during competition the week of May 11.

Tadhg Lake (Cheverus/Waynflete) ran 10:09.61 in the boys' 3200 meters at the Biddeford-Cheverus-Portland meet at Massabesic on May 11, improving from his previous best of 10:58.05 set in April. The sophomore won the race among six competitors and set a school record while moving to #7 in Maine and #2 among state sophomores.

Carina Castagna (Leavitt Area) clocked 15.72 in the girls' 100 hurdles at the Marathon Sports Elite Invitational on May 16, lowering her previous mark of 16.27. The senior placed third among 24 competitors and ranks #3 in Maine and #1 among state seniors. Castagna also ran a personal best 48.42 in the 300 hurdles, improving from 48.45.
