Boys Open Race
Ellsworth's Dan Curts took top honors in the 1.77 mile Open race @ MDI Relays on Saturday. Curts covered the course in 9:17 which was 18 seconds better than Presque Isle's Matt Eager(9:35). Caribou's Caleb Chapman, who was the fastest in 2010 finished 3rd in 9:40. York's Ryan Twohig was 4th in 9:50 with Ron Lund (Caribou) rounding out the top 5 9:52. In the team competition defending Class B champion Caribou was impressive scoring just 38, with York in 2nd with (74), & Ellsworth in 3rd with (84)

Girls Open Race
On the girls side Aleeta Looker (Ellssworth) crusied to the win 11:16- "I did not expect to do so well since I was shocked to be back into racing, I just planned on staying near the front throughout the race"-Looker commented, which was 18 seconds in front of runner-up Adrienne Carmack of John Bapst (11:34). "My expectations for the race were to simply start off my Cross County season with a smooth transition back into racing and to have a fun learning experience to use for the future races"- Looker said of her first race of the year.. It was a Bapst's sweep of placed 2-5, a good sign for the defending Class B girls champions, after Carmack, her sister Mary Carmack was 3rd (11:35) & Seraphine Provenzano in 4th (11:55). Rounding out the top 5 was MDI's Maggie Painter (12:03). MDI showed it will be a top team in Class B this fall, taking the team title despite the 2-3-4 finish by John Bapst, 38-40 over the defending Class B champs. MDI used it tight pack placing 5 scorers in the top 11 (5-6-7-9-11). Expect MDI & John Bapst's to have some great races this fall if this was an early preview we're in for some great things. Boys Relay Race
The York boy's showed impressive quality & depth taking the top 2 spots in the boys relay race, The "B" of Nic Eaton(9:51), Alec Jordan (10:17) & Josh Brooks (10:22) had the top time of 30:29, the "A" team of York was solid to led by the fastest time of all relay runners Mitchell Finitiz (9:43) to clock 30:59. Caribou showed good form with to notch 3rd 32:09, there 3 guys were doubling back from the open race.

Girls Relay Race
The York girls always were tops in the relay race with the trio of Nina Boutin (11:58), Briana Eaton (12:55), & Heather Evans (12:42) clocking 37:34. Almost a minute back in 2nd was the John Bapst's team in 38:33, while the MDI "A" team rounded out the top 3 (39:31).

The two open race winners Dan Curts & Aleeta Looker teamed up to take the mixed relay race clocking 21:31. The duo was 37 seconds in front of Caribou's duo of Caleb Chapman & MacKenzie Belyea (22:08), while York's "A" team of Mallory Evans & Kyle Morrison were 3rd (22:51).
