Team Previews
Expect the top 2 ranked teams in the state Scarborough & Falmouth to battle it out on Saturday. Both teams have front runners & great quality depth. The Red Storm have always run well on the course at Belfast. It looks like it'll come down to the 4-5 runners of each team, and perhaps maybe even the 6th man in the case of a tie. The out of state teams are unknowns at this point, Cumberland RI & JH Gillis have always had strong teams at FOC, Cumberland has two front runners which could prove important in a meet this size. Defending Class B state champion Caribou shouldn't be counted out either. This should meet should give a little clariy into who the top teams in each division really are, although the SAT conflict may cost some teams a runner or two.
Scarborough The Red Storm are the 3x defending team champion team champions @ FOC. They'll be looking to adda 4th title this fall. Scarborough is currently ranked #1 in the MTCCCA poll, while they sit #2 in the lastest MaineTrackXC Fan/Athlete poll. The Red Storm have shown another strong team early on this fall. The are led by Nick Morris who is one of the top individuals in the race. With a 1-5 split of 1:01, the Storm have both quality and depth. Based on seed times Scarborough is the favorite to win.

Falmouth The Yachtsmen are currently ranked #2 in MTCCCA poll, & #1 in the MaineTrackXC Fan/Athlete Poll. They are looking to challenge the Red Storm for the win this year. They are led by Tim Follo who has a shot to be in the top 5 finishers. Falmouth will rely on their experience as they have several seniors in their top 7 with big meet experience. The emergence of Jay Lesser this fall has been a key reason for the success of the team. The Yachtsmen finished 2nd last year at FOC.

Cumberland, RI comes to the FOC again with another strong team. They are coming off a 3rd place finish in the Varisty Division 2 race at the Ocean State Invitational last weekend. They have a strong 1-2
punch with Trevor Crawley & Matt Sutcliffe. Based on seed times they are seeded for a 3rd place finish, they finished 7th in 2010.
JH Gillis, Nova Scotia comes into the meet seeded 4th, which is the where they finished in the 2010 edition of the meet. They are led by a top indiviudal threat in junior Mike Tate, who finished 4th last year.
Caribou The Defending Class B champions have opened the 2011 season they way they ended 2010 by winning every meet this fall. The Vikings enter the meet 5th based on seeds & are currently ranked #4 MTCCA & #8 in the MTXC poll. They will look to senior Caleb Chapman to lead the way. Last year Caribou finished 4th.

South Portland: The Red Riots enter the FOC ranked #5 in the MTCCCA poll & #7 in MTXC Poll South Portland has had a strong year to date losing only to Scarborough in the SMAA season so far. Newcomer to XC Darryl Wilkinson has given them a huge lift as has a healthy Thomas Salamone. Based on seeds they are ranked #7.

North Yarmouth: NYA comes in ranked #7(MTCCCA) & #4 MTXC poll. They are coming off a tough day at Manchester Invitational, although they ran without regular #3 runner Alex Coffin. They'll be looking to rebound, earlier in the year they took down #3 ranked Greely. NYA is the top Class C team in the meet.

Bangor The Rams are off to a great start under new coach Adam Goode, they have gone undefeated through the KVAC schedule to this point in the season. Super soph Jonathan Stanhope has won a couple of races and been at the front for this young Rams squad all year. This meet will be a good measuring stick for the Rams, they currently are ranked #8 (MTCCCA) & #4 MTXC polls.

Cape Elizabeth: the Capers will be without #1 Thomas Bottomley & #5 Thomas Robinson (away on college visits) so they'll have to have some athletes step up to challenge the better teams. Currently Cape is ranked #10 in the MTXC & unranked in the MTCCCA polls. Look for sophomores Peter Doane & Liam Simpson to lead the way on Saturday.

They have made the transition to Class A without a hitch, earlier this year they fell just 4 points shy of Bangor in a meet. They'll be looking forward to the compeititon & another shot at their rivals. Hampden has been led by Andrew Closson & NIck Kopf this fall.
