Individual 2 time defending champion Matt McClintock of Madison is on pace for his 3rd state title in a row. McClintock is undefetaed on the season winning each race he's been in by a substantial margin. Last week at the WM regional despite some tough conditions he ran a personal best on the Twin Brook course with a 16:00.23, this was good for 46 scond victory over Chase Brown of Boothbay. Brown has been the Class C state runner-up the past two years, and may be regelated to that spot again in 2011. Expect Brown & Jack Pierce of Merriconeag to be at the front of the pack as well, they both tried to run with McClintock last week but couldn't keep up with his high tempo. EM regional champion Matt Guiod of Mattanawcook should be in the mix for a top 5 finish along with EM runner-up Tyler White of Orono. Western Maine top 5 finishers Josef Holt of Telstar & Abshir Horor of Waynflete will be shooting for a top 5 finish as well.

Defending champion North Yarmouth Academy is poised to capture their 2nd straight Class C XC title. The Panthers are coming off a dominating win at the WM regional last weekend where they were 39 points better than runner-up Waynflete. EM regional champion Bangor Christian will be in the mix for a trophy along with the Flyers of Waynflete, as well as Telstar. The Rebels were just 6 points back of Waynflete last weekend. Boothbay from WM also figures to be in the mix for a top 3 finish.

Individual: Defending champion Carsyn Koch of Washburn is back looking to make it 2 for 2 in states meets. Koch took the title as a freshman last year, she is coming off a win at the EM regional where she won by 49 seconds. Koch is the favorite entering the meet. Look for WM regional champion Meagan Thomas of Lisbon to be in the mix, along with Dirgo's Natalie Bolduc, who was the WM regional runner-up & Sophia Thayer of Boothbay who was just 1 second behind Bolduc. Don't count out Martha Veroneau of Waynflete, who won the title 2 years ago & was the runner-up last year to Koch.

Defending champion Merriconeag Waldorf won the school first ever state title last fall, they are in the line to repeat as champions on Saturday. Merriconeag dominated the WM regional, scoring just 41 points, which was 49 points better than runner-up Waynflete. EM regional champion Washburn has the front runners to stick with Merriconeag but can't match the quality depth. They also will have several team members playing in a playoff soccer game on Friday afternoon, although the same thing happen at last year's state meet & didn't have any ill effects. Orono the EM regional runner-up should be in the mix along with Dirigo & NYA for a top 5 finish.
