Catching up with Matt Rand
MaineTrackXC caught up with Tufts junior & NCAA D3 XC national qualifier Matt Rand to talk about his season & the upcoming national meet this weekend in Wisconsin. Rand has established himself as one of the top runners in the New England region this fall with a 6th place finish at the Open New England Championship, 3rd place at the NESCAC Championship, as well as a 3rd place finish this past weekend at the D3 New Engalnd Championship. Matt will compete in his first xc national meet on Saturday with his Tufts teammates, which include former Brunswick HS standout Liam Cassidy. This past spring Rand earned All-American honors on the track with a 6th place finish in the 10k (31:37), he will be shooting for the top 35 this weekend & another AA award. Matt is a 2009 graduate of Cape Elizabeth HS, he placed in the top 10 in the Class B state meet 3 times in his career.
