Hey Guys,
Congrats to all Maine runners that competed in New Englands last weekend! WAY TO DOMINATE! It was a bitter sweet race for all the seniors on my team. It was our last high school XC meet together. We’ve had an amazing three years and won the State title three years in a row!!! This last trip to Rhode Island together was exciting, and a great way to end high school cross country. Going into the season like I’ve said before we all had high hopes of winning the state title, and then improving our 4th place finish at New Englands. All season we had many obstacles we had to over come to reach this last meet. Unfortunately, Shannon (our number 3 runner) was still very sick from the previous week, and was not able to compete with us at New Englands. I was really upset that she wasn’t able to come, but I have great expectations for her in the next two years!

Going into the race I knew that I was going to feel a lot better than I have all season. It has been a little over a month since I have been on the iron, and I really feel a difference. I knew that many people really did not know what to expect out of me. I took the first mile somewhat comfortable and stayed in the top five for most of the race. I was happy with my 3rd place finish, and proud of how well everyone on the team did! We were still able to finish 8th as a team, which is pretty amazing due to the fact we competed without our 3rd runner!

I am so glad I didn’t end my season when I was struggling through my iron issues. I have been continuing to train, and I am really excited to run at Footlockers next weekend. I have absolutely nothing to lose, and I have had an amazing high school cross country experience. I always have people ask me if there is anything I would have done different in my high school career. The answer is nothing, and like I always say everything happens for a reason, and all the ups and downs I have had in high school running will help me in years to come!

xoxo
