Mainers Shine at Millrose Games

The 105th running of the prestigious Milrose Games, held at the Armory in New York City, provided an ample stage to demonstrate the quality of race walking in the state of Maine. Lauren Forgues lead the contingent with a decisive win of the mile race in 6:48.62. Maine's premier high school race walker, Abby Dunn of Edward Little High School, was third in a National best time of 7:28.36. Rounding out the group was Lewiston High School senior, Nicole Court-Menendez. Nicole, going into the race seeded last pulled out a personal best of 8:05.78 missing the medal stand by .78 seconds and placing 8th. This race was a preview of the National Indoor High School Championship which will be held at the same venue in 4 weeks. Coach Tom Menendez said, " We are ahead of where we were last year and if we continue to train like we have we can expect very good things to happen at Nationals."
