The Maine Principal's Asscociate announced todat that the Class A State Championship would conclude on Wednesday at Bates College starting at 3PM. The pole vault was suspended during Saturday's meet at Windham high school due to unsafe conditions. The meet will finish up indoors due to weather conditions.
This vault off has plenty of state title implications, as the girls meet has Edward Little currently leads the meet 75-74 over Scarborough. Edward Little has the #2 ranked pole vaulter in Jaclyn Masters, she's cleared a best of 11-0. Scarborough counters with the #3 vaulter Catherine Bailey (10-0). Edward Little also has 5th ranked Levi Clavet (9-0), but the vaulter that may benefit the most from the extra days is Scarborough's Andrea Tolman, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury for the past couple of weeks. Tolman is seeded with a jump of 9-6. Whatever the outcome the athletes competing will be in an unique situation as all eyes will be on them.
On the boys side the trophies will be decided as well. Currently Sanford is leading 69-65 over Cheverus, while Bonny Eagle 55.5 still has a shot to win too. Sanford has the #4 seed Nick Wall who has a best jump of 12-0, Cheverus has one vaulter Jacob Schott who has cleared 10-6, Bonny Eagle has two vaulter who have each cleared 11-6 in Jordan Trafford & Connor Dearborn.
Mainetrackxc will be on-site to bring you coverage of the vault off.
