Salute to Seniors: Abbey Leonardi Kennebunk HS
What was your most memorable race?
Foot Locker Nationals this year. Sophomore and Junior years I felt as though I didn’t perform to my full potential. This year I felt as though I finally had a good race there.
Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?
Winning new england xc as a freshman or setting the new England record in the 3200m last year.
If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
One thing I would want to change would be to develop more speed during the track season.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
Low ferritin level during cross country sophomore year. Also this year with being injured for the first time.
What will you miss the most?
My family being at every meet.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
To be confident in abilities and your training.
What advice have your coaches had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
Coach Dinehart has taught me to just enjoy running outside of competition.
What are your college plans?
Run for the University of Oregon and continue to improve. I’m really looking forward to being apart of the team! Also, try the 5k and 10k on the track.
Who would you like to say thank you to?
I would like to thank my family, coaches, friends, and anyone who has supported or helped me in any way.
