Boys Large School

Two time defending champion Dan Curts of Ellsowrth has been the best runner in Maine this fall. Curts is the heavy favorite to win the PVC individual title for a 3rd time in three tries. The fact that the meet is on is home course gives him even more of an advantage.

The others top 5 spots are up for grabs with a handful of harriers capable. Robert Looker of Ellsworth is the only other runner in the field to run below 17 minutes for 5k this season. The Caribou duo of Lucas Kinney & Ron Lund will be at the front of the pack, along with Ellsworth freshman Cooper Holmes

Ellsworth ranked #6 in the latest poll is the heavy favorite to win the PVC Large School title as they have 5 of the top 14 ranked runners. Caribou the defending champions have yet to put it all together this season but don't count them out. Mt Desert Island should contend for a top 2 finish as well.

Boys Small School

Orono's Tyler White enters the meet as the individual favorite. White has been fast and consistently at the front of the pack all fall. His best time of 16:41 47 seconds up the #2 seed Dylan Merchant (Bangor Christian).  Tyler was the runner-up last year but is primed to move up to first this year. Who else will be top 5? Look for Merchant, Josh Wheeler (Mattanawcook Academy), Sam Proctor & Zac Palmeter( Bangor Christian) & Sam Stahnke (GSA). Stahnke is one to watch he's had some strong performances over 3 miles.

The team title should be a close one with defending champions Bangor Christian holding a slight edge based on seeds over Orono. The Patroits haven't raced a lot this fall so they should have fresh legs depending on when they last had a soccer game, and Orono has been steadily improving all season. The 3-4-5 runners of each team will play an important role in deciding the winner.

Girls Large School

Besides a back issue at the Festival of Champions, Junior Aleta looker of Ellsworth has been dynamic all fall. Looker has won every race she has finished this season including the small school race at the Manchester Invitational earlier this year. Aleta is the defending Large School champion, and is the favorite to repeat.

It won't be a walk in the park for Looker though as MDI's Maggie Painter has exploded this fall into a front runner. Painter has a best of 19:19 just 2 seconds behind Looker's best of 19:17. Painter will be looking to challenge for the win and more importantly get that low number for the team scoring.

Others that will make a run at the top 5 are McKenzie Belyea of Caribou, Adrienne Carmack (John Bapst) & several of the MDI harriers (Olivia Erickson, Isabel Erickson, Caroline Driscoll)

The #1 ranked MDI Trojans are the best team in the state, the have the quality and depth unmatched by any other team. Every time they toe the line they are expected to win. The Vikings of Caribou are the nex best team with John Bapst also in the mix for a top 2 finish,

Girls Small School

Orono's Lily Koffman is the favorite to win the Small School title at the PVC Championship. Koffman has had a very succesful fall and this race should be no exception. Lily has won 4 races, including her latest on her home course where she set a course record. Freshman Natalie Coleman of Bucksport has the next best time on the year. Coleman along with Jordan Richards of Orono are the best bets for a runner-up finish. Vanessa Twombly (Mattanawcook) & Liza Grigoreya (Foxcroft) should contend for a top 5 finish

Orono based on seeds is suppose to score just 20, if they do that they will dominate the team competition. The Riots are the defending champions. Foxcroft & George Stevens should be tight for the runner-up spot.
