Brown 11th, Holt-Andrews 22nd lead Mainers at FLNE

Brown 11th leads the girls, while Holt-Andrews 22nd is first for the boys at FootLocker Northeast

Waterville senior Bethanie Brown finished in the spot no one wants to at Footlocker Northeast today. Brown placed 11th one spot out of a trip to San Diego for Footlocker Nationals, her time was 18:42, 6 seconds off the 10th place time. On the boys side Josef Holt-Andrews led the mainers with a 22nd place finish, he covered the challenging course at the famed Van Cortlandt Park in 16:14.3.

Holt-Andrews put himself into contention for one of the 10 spot for San Diego early on in the race as he was running in the top 15 throughout the first half of the race. He lost contact just before the 2 mile, and hung on to finish 22nd in 16:14. Ellsworth's Dan Curts worked his way up to 25nd, his time was 16:20.

Bethanie put herself in contention for a top 10 spot as she was 6th at the mile. Brown who fall back a bit during the 2nd mile but was still in 10th coming out the woods, but couldn't hold on to the spot in the long run to the finish. Greely junior Kirstin Sandreuter ran to a 33rd place finish (19:38.5), while Bonny Eagle senior Samantha Cox ran a strong race to place 38th (19:45).
