@snowshoe That is a very impressive start! Wiggins 1. three of your four are correct 3. nope 4. you already know you're missing one Monument Valley 1. wrong sport 2. still open 4. no and no, this question is probably harder than its rating, but I wanted to put it under Monument Valley Park 5. nope, the host school is closer to the venue than Boulder St. Vrain 1. we thought for a while it was, but an older, faster time turned up from a different course 3. very close 4. still open 7. still open Pat Patten 1. think recently for your third 4. I think some folks will probably help you out on this one soon 6. still open 7. still open, and one of my favorite questions of the whole bunch--there are three of them unless someone slipped through my net NPEC 1. getting close (and DeMartini is one I would have missed if you hadn't said it), and I guess you could count the Roberts family twice since it's been done by completely different pairs 3. some local help should turn up soon 5. Not Adam Goucher, and the answer to this question is a burr under the saddle of some cross country types (though not because of the individual in question) 7. I didn't recall the Regis Jesuit boys wearing alternate uniforms that year (but, as often happens, my answers could be subject to review) Battle Mountain 1. half way there (and there have been more than two altogether, but I'd hate to speculate exactly how many) 2 & 3. we may need local help on those questions, although Ron Lund's previous gig wasn't that long ago 4. maybe the most difficult question on the entire list, Campbell attended Central 6. I did an article on these two schools about three years ago, if that helps 7. close, but not quite

Cheyenne Mountain would also be a correct answer. I can't think of any more. Paonia is not the place Randy Cooper ended his career, but you have the first two letters right. It is true that I attended Adams State (and that was the way the question was worded), but I'll be clear right now that I never wore the colors. Judy Fellhauer is correct, nice job on that one!

@ CoachVersaw I didn't think of this until I saw your comment. Is the answer to Norris Penrose #5 Bradley Harkrader's 14:49 at the Vineyard? That was the year the state course was notoriously short.

Other possibilities would be Sanford and Mountain Valley. The rest have all definitely had cross country teams of their own. Mountain Valley has partnered with Moffat but never had a team of their own. Jacob Benson and Tabor Scholl give us two, but there's a long history of this happening. Wonder how many more we throw back the curtains on? Major kudos on getting Jill Schenkel and Seth Hejny! How'd you find that? Boulder has lots of second-place finishes, but also two state titles from way back when.

Sanford scored girls in the '84 and '85 state championships. To find the Grand Junction/Stanford runners I did a Ctrl F search on the 77-97 results page. I googled the athlete names that search revealed with the word Stanford. Seth Hejny still has an athlete profile on Stanford's website so he wasn't hard to find. He actually graduated from Central in '99, but it looks like he ran for Grand Junction in fall '96 season. Jill Schenkel was a little harder to confirm. The google search yielded this document: http://www.prepcaltrack.com/ATHLETICS/TRACK/1990/stanford.pdf. She took 5th in the college 3k. Needless to say I like a good challenge and doing research.

Questions still out there: Wiggins - #4 MVP - #2 St. Vrain - #4 Pat Patten - #7 NP/BC - #7, it's been answered but it would be fun to build a list. I know Rocky Ford's boys beat Lyons and us in 2007 in alternate uniforms, not sure how many more are out there. Battle Mountain - #1, would be fun to build a list here, too. I know Raegan Robb and Kristen McGlynn belong on the list. Battle Mountain - #3 Hint: the school no longer exists Battle Mountain - #6

@kevinakers You did a lot of damage there to the remaining questions. There is one more college coach who coached first in the high school ranks. Ty Williams is a good addition to the list of state title winners who didn't attend the school they ran for. We now have a full answer to Wiggins #4!
