High School Junior / Senior Boys
Five of the top ten from last year's freshman/sophomore race have moved up to the junior/senior race where they will join five seniors who placed in the top ten of the junior/senior race. This race promises to be fast given the amount of talent.
Greely's Luke Marsanskis clocked 16:11.93 to finish 4th overall a year ago, he is the fastest returner. He opened his season a week ago with a 17:37 effort at Poland and is ranked MileSplit50 #12. His teammate Matthew Todd who was 6th a year ago in 16:13.05 is back as well, he was steps ahead of Marsanskis running 17:36 last week. Todd is ranked MileSplit50 #11.
Falmouth's John Auer was 7th a year ago in 16:19.72, he won his opener over three miles. Auer is ranked MileSplit50 #7.
Scarborough's Tristram Coffin won the freshman/sophomore race in 16:34.85 the 8th fastest overall, he finished in a dead heat with his brother Conor at Marshwood last Friday. The Coffins twins currently ranks MileSplit50 #5
The top 5k runner in the state so far in 2018 Gabe Coffey of Bangor is entered. Coffey opened his season with a blazing 16:23.21 on his home course, he'll be the pre-meet favorite based of that effort. Coffey ranks MileSplit50 #3.
Alec Troxell of Deering figures to be another top threat to win, Troxell ran 16:31 at Cheverus to win easily last week. He currently ranks MileSplit50 #2
Lincoln Academy joins the field this year and that means Sam Russ & Jarrett Gulden will be in the field. Gulden ran 17:53 at Maranacook last week, and ranks MileSplit50 #14.
MileSplit50 #15 Ben Potter of Falmouth is another runner to watch, Potter opened just 5 seconds behind Auer on the tough three mile layout at Falmouth.
Also back is 11th fastest from a year ago Landon Heidrich of Thornton Academy who ran 16:53.49, and the 12th fastest Odeh Rizkallah of Yarmouth, he ran 16:57.43 a year ago. Scarborough's Harrison Osborne was 13th best (17:00.93) while Jeffery Waters of Massabesic was 14th best in 17:02.65.
