Tomaszewski scorches the track 6.46, York Boys & Greely Girls win WMC titles

Tomaszewski 6.46, Hall 25.67 Greely Girls & York Boys repeat

The York Boys & Greely repeated as WMC Conference Championship on Monday night at USM. Greely girls amassed 11 wins which helped them tally 193 total points to comfortable win ahead of runner-up Falmouth (75). On the Boys side the Wildcats scored 165 to easily win over runner-up Falmouth(104).

Denzel Tomaszewski of Wells set the All-time Maine best for 55m, 6.46, while Kate Hall of Lake Region broke the league record in the Sr 200m, 25.67 to highlight the individual events.

Tomaszewski time has him ranked in a tie for the top time in New England, and currently also #22 in the country.

Hall also won the 55m dash, running a personal best 7.26, which was just .01 off of Logan Crane's league record, the time is the fastest in the state this winter. She would add another win in the long jump where she leapt 17-10 1/2, the 2nd best jump in state history behind her own state record.

Greely's Gwen Sawyer won the Sr Shot put with a state leading 37-3 1/4 mark. Her teammate Alysaa Casarez won the Jr Shot with a heave of 31-9 3/4

Jacob Buhelt of Falmouth lowered his Class B leading 200m time to 23.15 in a great race to come from behind against Tomaszewski, who posted the #2 time in Class B 23.3

Ben Decker of Yarmouth swept the Boys Mile & 2 Mile, Decker won the mile with a big negative split to run 4:32.22, he easily won the 2 mile with a 10:16.09. Kirstin Sandreuter of Greely did the same thing on the firls side taking the mile in a seasonal best 5:18.42, holding off a strong challenge from Heather Evans of York (5:24.63). Kirstin would easily win the 2 mile clocking 11:48.54.

York the boys team champions got great days out of Thomas Reid who won the senior 55m hurdles (8.30), long jump 20-6 1/2, which moves him to the top of the Class B rankings, he was also 3rd in the triple jump, and ran a leg on the winning 4x200m relay. Also contributing big was Josh Brooks who won the Sr. 400m in 52.44, and had a great anchor leg on the 4x200 to bring his team across the line in first (1:37.01), he also placed 3rd in the Sr 200m. Another cog in the Wildcats wheel was Joe Vogel who kicked hard to win the 800m at the line 2:05.72, then won the triple jump with a seasonal best 41-7, he also added a runner-up in the long jump.

Yarmouth's Emma Egan won the Jr 400m in a seasonal best 64.34, then doubled back for the win in the Jr 200m clocking 27.76.

Traip Academy's Kelsey Barnes cleared 10-6 again to win the pole vault.

In the girls triple jump Kaley Sawyer of Grely got the league record holder Jocelyn Lorrey with a personal best 35-6 leap.

James Ferrar of Greely won the Sr Shot as he added to his personal best again with a  throw of 47-3 1/2.
