Orono girls & Foxcroft boys best in Class C

State meet records go down in the 110m hurdles, and both pole vaults

The Foxcroft Academy boys & Orono girls won Class C titles. Kelsey Barnes of Traip broke the pole vault state meet record with a leap of 10-6. Donald Boyer of Foxcroft broke the state meet record in the 110m hurdles, 15.06, while David Frederick took down the pole vault record with a 13-9 jump

The Red Riots of Orono were paced by Abby Weigang & Kayla Marquis as they captured the Class C team title. Weigang was a double winner as she took the 100m hurdles in 15.85, to win by over 1.7 seconds. She would win the 300m hurdles in 49.12 just ahead of her teammate Kayla Marquis 49.54, as Orono scored 18 points in the event. Abby added 8 more points with a runner-up finish in the pole vault, she cleared a 9-0. Teammate Marquis was 3rd in the vault with a 9-0 clearance as well. Weigang also ran a leg on the runner-up 4x400m relay (4:14.98)

Traip Academy put up a valiant fight as they ended up state runner-ups. Traip got a state rmeet record in the pole vault from Kelsey Barnes who cleared 10-6, the old record was 10-0 set by in 2001 by Orono's Ellen Vollmers. The also got a pair of wins from Jocelyn Lorrey in the long jump (16-2) & triple jump (36-6 3/4). Lorrey also ran a leg on the winning 4x400m relay (4:13.97) & 4x100m (51.68). Ashleigh Roberts finish second in the long jump (16-1 1/4). Elora McCuddy provided 10 points with a win in the 800m, McCuddy covered the 2 lap race in 2:30.72. She finished as the state runner-up in the 400m as well covering the 1 lap race in 61.18.

Washburn's Carsyn Koch the 3 time Class XC Champion showed verstaility as she won the 100m dash in 13.40, won the high jump with a clearance of 5-0, and was the runner-up in the 200m 27.47. Great range for a distance runner at heart, her efforts helped her team of 4 to a 6th place finish.

Lake Kerrigan won the 3200m in a very close race with Kent's Hill Anne McKee, the finishing time was 11:52.33 to 11:52.35. McKee had earlier won the 1600m in 5:26.07 over Kerrigan 5:29.15

Fern Morrison of Foxcroft won the 400m dash in 60.20 & Lexi Dietrich of Freeport won the 200m dash with a time of 27.0

Boothbay's Jessie Vander won the shot put with a toss of 35-2, she was also the runner-up in the discus

NYA's Muriel Adams took the discus with a throw of 107-6 while Katie Cronkite of MCI won the 1600m racewalk in 8:28.86

Kayla Angelico of Lisbon won the javelin as she got out to 109-2, she also ran a leg on the winning 4x800m relay (10:15.85)

 

         Foxcroft Academy rolled to the Class C rolled to the state title behind Donald Boyer. Boyer won the 110m hurdles in a state meet record of 15.06. He lowered the previous best of 15.08 run by John Bapst's Chris Fogler. He added a second win in the long jump as he leaped out to 21-10. He also would finish second in the 300m hurdles with a 40.95 clocking, and was also 4th in the high jump with a clearance of 5-10.

David Frederick of Orono broke the state meet record in the pole vault as he raised the bar to 13-9, the old record was set back in 1984 by Orono's Hein Brutsaert (13-8 1/4). Frederick also ran a leg on the winning 4x400m relay (3:37.3).

Hall-Dale's Tyler Fitzgerald had a big day as he won 2 events and was the runner-up in another. Fitzgerald ran 11.43 to win the 100m, he doubled back in the 200m, winning with a 23.73. In the long jump he was second with a big 21-7 1/4 leap.

Josef Holt-Andrews was a triple winner on the day as he led off the day helping his Telstar teammates to a win in the 4x800m relay, the Rebels clocked 8:37.79. Andrews would come back to run an impressive 4:21.18 in the 1600m, running solo the whole time as second place was 18 seconds back. He concluded his impressive day with a win in the 3200m. His time was 9:57.24 go for a 23 second margin of victory.

Harrison Stivers of Freeport pulled off one of the hardest doubles in track as he first won the 400m in a perosnal best 50.74, then came back to take the 2 lap 800m race in 2:02.51

Antenico Martin of Traip won the triple jump with a leap of 44-7 1/4, his effort held of a big jump of 44-2 from Sacopee Valley's Ryan Moulton.

Andrew Lachance of Maranacook won the shot put with a toss of 45-8, edging out Corey Bjornson of Foxcroft 45-7

Andrew Lewis of Ft Fairfield was the best discus thrower on the day as he threw 133-4 for the win. In a unique combination he was also the state champion with a 6-2 clearance in the high jump.

Jake Burns of NYA ran 40.15 to win the 300m hurdles, the time is the second fastest of anyone in the state this spring. He also ran a leg on the winning 4x100m relay teams, as NYA clocked 45.79.

Tyler Bard of Lisbon lead a 1-2 sweep for the Greyhounds as he repeated a the 1600m racewalk champion with a 7:07.61 clocking, his temamate Ben Kates was the runner-up.

Robbie Pallozzi of St Dom's took the javelin with a toss of 157-7
