Brunswick/Waterville girls & Edward Little/Waterville boys tops in the KVAC

In the Class A girls meet, the Brunswick Dragons were victorious by 16.5 points over Messalonskee. Brunswick did most of it's damage in the distance events as Teresa Murphy led a 1-2 finish in a tightly conetested mile. Murphy's winning time was 5:24.16, while teammate Tiffany Tanner was 2nd in 5:32.95. In the 800m, the Dragons got anoher win this time from Tiffany Tanner who was the only girl under 2:30, with her 2:27.56. There were 6 girls under 2:31.82 in a close race for positions 2-6. In the 2 mile it was Tessa Cassidy's turn to get the W as she ran 12:10.53, Murhpy was the runner-up in 12:16.79, while Tanner was 4th 12:30.71. The distance team also finished as the runner-upin the 4x800.

Anna Cowan provided 10 points with a win in the high jump (5-0), while her sister Emily was the runner (4-8). In the shot put Michele Richards improve by over two feet to win the shot put with a throw of  32-5 1/2.

Messalonskee's Amanda Knight had a huge meet winning 3 individual events. Knight won the 55m dash in a Class A leading 7.47, she then took the 400m in 60.57, and closed out with another W in the 200m, 27.24. Teammate Taylor Lenentine was also a double winner with a 10-0 clearance in the vault, and a win in the 55m hurdles where she ran a 9.42.

On the boys side Edward Little prevailed over Lewiston  92.5 to 85, while Messalonskee had a strong meet with 82 and Brunwick was 4th with 78.

The Red Eddies relied heavily on the sprint squad and they came through. Junior Hunter Martin was a double winner as he took 200m, & 400m dashes. Martin started off the meet with a runner-up finish in the 55m, running 6.80, he then took his first win the 400m as he clocked a personal best 53.08, before finishing his day off with a win and personal best 23.47 in the 200m. Brad Morissette provided the other win for EL in the long jump with a leap of 20-0 to notch a seasonal best, he also finished third in the triple jump. Sprinter Trey Rogers provided key points as he took third place in the 55m (6.82) & 400m (53.96), then had a fourth in the 200m. Pole Vaulter Brandon Binette cleared 12-0 to earn the runner-up spot in the vault.

Andrew McCracken of Mt Ararat jumped 13-0 in the pole vault for the win, that mark puts him second in Class A. While Damen Bickford had a huge personal best in the shot as he threw 47-4 to win, he entered the meet with a best of 40-11.

Logan Moses of Messalonskee won the mile in 4:37.06, while Chris Tanner of Brunswick was the victor in the 800m, 2:05.59, & Osman Dorrow of Lewiston was tops in the 2 mile, 10:11.75

          The Waterville girls overwhelmed the rest of the KVAC Class B teams as the won the conference title again by over a 100 points. Belfast was the runner-up

Leading the way for the Pathers was the duo Sarah Shoulta & Kellie Bolduc. Shoulta led a 1-2 finish with Bolduc in the 55m hurdles, her time of 8.98 is the tops in Class B this year. She added a win in the pole vault with a 9-6 clearance that jump is also the best in Class B.  Bolduc added a win in the triple jump as she had stiff competition from Erskine's Jade Canak, but pulled it out with a leap of 36-0 3/4, that mark improved her seasonal best and state leading mark. She also added 8 more points in the high jump with a 4-10 clearance.

Other big contributor for Waterville came from a state leading shot put 39-6 from Rachel Bergeron, that improved from her seed of 36-7. Lydia Roy was the runner-up in the the 200m & 400m. Freshman distance runner Cecilia Morin was the runner-up in the mile & third in the 2 mile.

Camden Hill's senior distance runner Brittany Bowman won both the mile (5:35.79) & the 2 mile (11:55.10).

Sophomore sprinter Cassidy Hill of Belfast was a double winner in the 200m & 400m. Hill clocked a seasonal best 60.81 to take the 400, that mark has her ranked third in Class B. She won the 200m  in a fast 26.81 that makes her the second fastest in Class B.

Erskine Academy's Jade Canak had three strong performances. In the long jump she recorded a first place with a jump of 15-4. Canak was third in the 55m hurdles with a 9.19 7 also finished as the runner-up in the triple jump with a 35-4 effort, that mark ranks her 2nd in Class B

             The Waterville boys were easy winners of the Class B KVAC title as the Panthers amassed 131 points to outdistance runner-up Belfast who has 71.

Waterville had several strong performances across the board. Jordhan Levine had a big day, he set a state leading mark in the triple jump as well as a personal best with a  44-3 1/4 mark. He added a second win in the 400m as he clocked 53.49. He was also runner-up in the 55m hurdles running a 8.20. Fellow hurdler/jumper Troy Gurski was impressive as well. Gurski clocked a Class B leading 8.10 to win the hurdles. He added 8 more points in the long jump.

Trever Gray won the shot put with another effort out over 50ft, this time his mark was 50-6 1/2. Distance runner Chris Cote had a big personal best in the mile 4:33.62 to place seconds, he added 10 more points with a win in the two mile, 10:04.77.

Sophomore Preston Spear of Oceanside was the top short sprinter, he won the 55m in 6.96 then added another W in the 200, 24.52.

Camden Hill's Ben Trapani won the mile in a close race with Waterville's Chris Cote, Trapani's time was a seasonal best 4:32.05, he also add another win in the 800m.

Drew Nealey of Belfast was a double winner taking the pole vault with another 13-0 clearance, he is the top vaulter in Class B, and also cleared 5-10 to win the high jump. He also placed third in the triple jump.
