Tell us how your summer training is going?

I've been enjoying my last opportunities to run with (former) teammates headed off to college this year, along with my current teammates. This summer has been my most consistent with training so far so I'm quite excited for the season to begin.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?
My goals for this season are quite simple: to run for myself and for my team to the best of my ability. Of course I have time goals and place goals as well, but in the end the most important thing that I ask myself is "Did I do everything I could for my team?". If I can honestly answer yes to that question then I've done what I wanted to do.

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I've been running basically since kindergarten, my first 5k was in second grade. I'm not even sure how I got started running, I've just always done it.

Will you be competing anywhere out of state this season?

I hope that I'll have the opportunity to compete out of state this season at the New England Championships, but other than that possibility I'll be racing in state.

What is your favorite course to run in Maine?

My favorite courses to run are the Belfast and Ellsworth courses. But Belfast has to be number one because of all the memories I have racing on it.

What is the toughest course to run in Maine?

The toughest course when considering terrain is definitely Twin Brooks, but I think it's pretty tough to run the Caribou course after waking up at four in the morning and driving for five hours

What meet during the regular season do you put extra emphasize on to compete well at?

Definitely Festival of Champions. It doesn't really even feel like a regular season meet because of all the excitement about competing with so many people. It's a very competitive meet and it's hard not to go fast and run well.

What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career & favorite cross country memory?

This is by far the hardest question because it's nearly impossible to choose only one amazing memory. I guess I'd have to say that my favorite memory was our team winning states my sophomore year, we were all just so utterly exhausted that we all knew that every person on the team had given their absolute best effort. Know that no one could have done anything more to contribute to our win was a really satisfying feeling. My favorite race has to be a combination of Festival of Champions and Eastern Maines this year because those were the races when my teammates and I all broke the 20 minute barrier for the first times, something we had been wanting to do together for a while. It was great to get to accomplish a big goal with my best friends.

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

When I'm not running I like to do other active things like play basketball or hike. This summer I took up backpacking and went on a 35 mile trip with two of my teammates Waylon Henggeler and Isabel Erickson

Favorite quote?

"I always loved running... It was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs."- Jesse Owens

What shoes do you train in?

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14

What shoes do you race in?

Saucony Shay XC3 spikes

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

I'd love to meet Meb Keflezighi, I saw him finishing the Boston Marathon and it was the coolest. I'd also love to meet Ryan Hall and Kara Goucher. But I'm not actually very picky, meeting any professional runner would be exciting.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

I go camping for two whole months every year during the summer. That's the most interesting thing I could think of!
