Tell us how your summer training went?

My summer training had a rocky beginning. I had to take a month off complete from running after outdoor New England's due to plantar fasciitis. I began running again in the 3rd week of July, and used Acadian Running Camp to jump start my training. From then on, training went incredibly well and I was able to get back into shape pretty quickly.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My goals for this season are to be a good leader and role model for our very young team, be competitive in every race I run in, and leave every race knowing that I gave everything I could give and tried my hardest. Time wise, just keep PR'ing and be in the low 16's by the end of the year.

What is your favorite course to run in Maine?

My favorite course to run has to be Twin Brook. Although it is hated by many and is home to the infamous Pain Cave, it has become my go-to place to do long runs and a favorite spot to race at over the years.

What is the toughest course to run in Maine?

The toughest course in the state for me is the St. Joes course in Standish. This is the location of the WMC Championship each year, and each year I seem to struggle with this course. There are a handful of sizable hills in the middle, with a fast section at the end that will absolutely destroy you if you have nothing left.

What is your favorite cross-country memory?

My favorite cross country memory, without a doubt, has to be Class B states my sophomore year (wow, 2012 was that long ago). The race itself was a complete blur, but it was after the race that was significant. The sense of anticipation as my teammates and I huddled together after the race and awaited the results. We found out we'd won and absolutely went wild! There is nothing that feels the same as winning your first state championship.

What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career?

My favorite cross country race so far has to be Western Maine Regionals at Twin Brook my sophomore year. It had POURED the night before, and the entire course was mud. It was probably the most fun race I've run in just because there was mud everywhere!

What shoes do you train in?
I am training in the Nike Pegasus 31. They are a really good cushiony trainer, and I look forward to getting a second pair in the near future.

What shoes do you race in?

As many people know, I am what some may call as "spike addict". I have raced in the Nike Victory XC's and the Nike Mamba 2's, but I recently ordered Victory XC 2's because the first model was so good.

Favorite Post-race Meal?

Favorite post-race meal is going to have to be a Chipotle burrito. Although the consequences are quite severe, it is well worth it.

Flat course or hills?

Both have good things about them, but I have to say flat courses. If it's a good day, I would run love a hilly course, but it is just so easy to run fast when it is a flat course.

Facebook , Instagram or Twitter?

I have to say Twitter, just because I find it funny that there are people that only know me for my Twitter name (@mainemilerunner).

Favorite song at the moment?

I'm going to have to go with Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show. If I hear it playing, I always have to sing along.

What professional athlete would you most like to meet?

Jeez, there are so many (all runners) that I would love to meet. If it could only be one, I'm going to have to go with Haile Gebrselassie. Often called the greatest distance runner in history, I would love to just sit down to pick his brain and get a few tips
