The Queen of the sand


Last week Kate Hall of Lake Region became the first Maine HS girl to jump over 20ft in the long jump with her 20-1 1/2 record breaking effort. Hall's mark currently ranks #1 in the US, and is the only girl to go beyond 20ft this winter to date. The 2014 New Balance Indoor National runner-up has her eyes set on moving up to the top of the podium this year and will the first 20ft jump under her belt now has her eyes set for that magical 21ft mark.

Kate's jump currently ranks her #1 overall in Class B, that is for both boys & girls, and even more impressive she's the 5th best jumper overall in the entire state. Hall who is no stranger to breaking records, moved up to the #2 all-time spot in New England history with her jump last week, the mark is just behind the 20-2 3/4 record distance of Arantxa King of Medford, MA.


Here is a look at Kate's PR progression, she has gone from the mid 17's as a freshman to the upper 19's as a junior before leaping into the 20's last weekend.
