D1 - Geoghegan sprints his way to third in the 3k, helps Oregon to National title
Oregon senior Will Geoghegan helped clinch the indoor national title for the Ducks as he finished 3rd in the 3k running 8:00.44. Geoghegan who earned All-American honors on Friday in the 5k, had his best race of the weekend as he bided his time until the last 4 laps, the pace quickened as Oregon teammates Eric Jenkins and Edward Cheserek moved to the front, Geoghegan responded to the uptick in pace and the Ducks were running 1-2-3. On the final lap, Will slipped back to 4th but he kicked furiously down the homestretch and outleaned Kemoy Campbell of Arkansas. Oregon went 1-2-3 in the event go for 24 points, they entered the event needing 11 points to win. It was Geoghegan's third All-American award of his career, he has one each in the mile (2014), 3k (2015) & 5k (2015).
