Tell us how your summer training is going?
Summer training has been going well, increasing mileage and running hills is my primary use of time in this early before the season.
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
My upcoming seasons goals is really just what everyone hopes for, faster times and a more consistent fast pace
How long have you been running and how did you get started?
This will be my third year of running, I started my
freshman year in Cross Country and have done every season of XC, Indoor
and outdoor since. I got an idea about starting competitive running when
I was still playing Lacrosse, I could play an entire game running
around the field and barely get tired doing so. I saw what I was good at
and signed up for Cross Country, and the rest is history.
Will you be competing anywhere out of state this season?
Unfortunately, my team has no plans on running out-of-state this season, unless you take the New England Championship into account.
What is your favorite course to run in Maine?
My favorite course to run in Maine by far is Belfast. That course is well groomed and ready to have fast times.
What is the toughest course to run in Maine?
The toughest course in Maine is a hard one to decide,
MCI of course has the most difficult start (Ski Slope), but Cony and
Mt. Blue have some pretty difficult trails as well.
What meet during the regular season do you put extra emphasize on to compete well at?
I tend to try to put a lot of emphasis on the faster
races like Belfast's Festival of Championships to get a better time, but
I also try my hardest on more difficult courses in order to better my
running skill. Of course all championship races get top priority.
What is your favorite cross country race so far in your high school career & favorite cross country memory?
Not to be cliche, but last year's Festival, where I got my PR, probably ranks one of my favorite races in Cross County so far. As for memories, it is not so cut and dry, I have been fortunate enough to be able to run with great runners and coaches all the way through my high school career, and befriending them has made an abundance of unforgettable memories.
When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?
When I am not running during the summer. Studying and
portraying history, which I do as a summer job, takes up a lot of time.
Other than that, Going to the beach, hanging out with friends and
exploring Maine's coast takes up most my time.
Favorite quote?
Favorite Quote: "A minute of pain is worth a lifetime of glory." -Pete Zamperini
What shoes do you train in?
Shoes? Newtons. Ever since I laced up my first pair
of Newtons I knew I was never going back, Newton Running Shoes really
cater to Mid-Foot runners, and the extra Metatarsals support really
helps a lot. I will be purchasing a new pair of Gravitys this new
season.
What shoes do you race in?
Racing I try to lose as much weight in the shoe as possible, the lighter distance spikes that Saucony and Nike put out are usually what I purchase.
What professional athlete would you most like to meet?
I would really like to meet Ben True someday, his story of success and coming from Maine is really amazing. Of course meeting David Rudisha, the world record holder in the 800 meter dash, would be an amazing opportunity as well.
What is something that most people don't know about you?
Most people don't know that I also love to sing in various choirs across the state and country (awaiting audition results). Acting in school plays and doing various historical events in order to teach Maine's rich history are also things that people don't really realize I do.
