OOB, York, Wells @ Traip Academy (Homecoming)

The York ladies have been running well all season as they're lead by sophomore Kathyrn Miller. Miller and the rest of the York girls didn't run at FOC last Saturday, but rather took a couple laps around Kennebunk's home course. She finished the 2.9 mile course in an 18:46 with no one around her. Watch for her to repeat that as she faces Wells and Traip again. Also watch for her teammates, Malia Cryan and Laura Kenealy. Cryan ran a 19:28 while Kenealy was 19:58 as they went 2nd and 3rd. They'll look to do the same as well this week, and potentially run even tighter. Not too far behind Kenealy was Anna Libby from Wells. She was 20:00 and will try to get in front of Kenealy this week.

York ran away with the win last week as they beat, Waynflete, 21-67. Their splits have been getting tighter all season, this week they were only 1:39 from 1-5 with a 19:45 average. They'll try to improve even more this week before they enter their first post-season meet next week.

Unlike the girls, York's top 7 boys ran at FOC and had quite the showing with Rex Brockleman leading the way. He's a late bloomer for the team, as he started off the year as the #3 runner and worked his way back up to the front. He finished 27th overall with a time of 17:09. He was followed by his teammate, Sam Sewall, who clocked a 17:16 to finish 32nd. Sewall has been York's #1 runner all season, with the combo of these two leading the pack and feeding off each other, they should have no problem clocking faster times again and again. Also in the mix and running close to these gents all year is Rees Shaeffer. He was 52nd with a 17:35. In the smaller meets, these guys tend to run closer, and most defiantly will this week. Leading the Wells Warriors is junior, Wesley Moody. Moody was 16:19 over the 2.9 course in Kennebunk. Earlier this year he was just behind Rex Brockleman on his home course, going 17:40 for a 5k. He'll try to keep up with him again this week.

#4 York's impressive run and tight 1-4 pack helped make them the 4th fastest team at FOC. They had their 1-4 runners in a pack of 39 seconds. Unfortunately they need 5 runners to score, and their #5 runner is a bit further back. They ran with a split of 1:20, which isn't bad, but it could be tighter. They averaged 17:40 and are currently ranked as the best Class B team, if they can get their #5 runner to move up more, they'll be able to compete with Freeport, if they're fully healed.

Kennebunk, Waynflete, Yarmouth @ Sacopee Valley

After two weeks of hard training, the clippers are going into the final meet of the regular season ready to put up some strong numbers, as they're lead by Abbey Hamilton. Hamilton has been a strong front runner for the Clippers as she's clocked a 19:18 at Manchester to help her beat the defending State champ, Katherine Leggat-Barr and place 6th that race. Hamilton had the fastest 5k in the state, before FOC. Yarmouth's Anneka Murrin is the Dark Horse for Yarmouth, when she runs, the average goes from 21:23, down to 20:48. Murrin has run two 5k's this year. She went sub 20 in the opening meet at Pineland with a 19:57, and then ran a 20:11 on her home course. Watch for her this week. Also in the top 3 for Yarmouth is Grace Cowles. She's been stepping up for the Clippers this year and trying to help give her team that edge. When she was at Manchester, she placed 22nd with a 20:22.

Yarmouth has won every regular season meet this year and will continue to do so this week. Even though they were without their #2 runner, they still placed 8th out of the 31 teams at the Manchester Invite. They averaged a 21:23 and a broad split of 3:57. If they get Murrin this race, that split is going down to almost 2 minutes along with their average. Look for her to be at the top of the results along with her teammates.

Luke Laverdiere has been de-throned as the fastest runner in the state this previous week. He has a PR of 16:03 from Manchester. He placed 2nd in the Small School race. This week, he'll get back on the winning track and jog to an easy win around Sacopee's relatively flat course. His teammate, Sam Potter will try look to see how far he can go with Laverdiere still in his sights. Potter has a PR of a 17:22 from running at Manchester. He's been running in the mid to high 17's this season, and will be around there again this race. From Kennebunk, Scott Lightbody will lead the chase pack through the trails and around the fields. Last week on his home course he ran 17:24 for 2.9 miles. Last time he ran against Yarmouth he was about 40 seconds behind Potter, he'll try to close that gap this week.

When Yarmouth and Kennebunk squared up last time, Yarmouth got the better end of things going 39-80. Yarmouth finished 12th at Manchester, their most recent meet, with an 18:05 average and a 3:05 split. They've got the advantage with Laverdiere as their VERY strong front runner, and then Potter who's in between things, but their 3-5 runners, are close together, and are able to push each other along.

Gray, Maine Costal Waldorf, Poland, Falmouth @ Cape Elizabeth

Cape Elizabeth and Falmouth look to square up again for the third time this season. Falmouth has gotten the better of Cape both those times, but may find it harder trying to get their third win over Cape as they go run through Gull Crest, Cape's home course. Falmouth is lead by Mira Wyman, who was 25th in the seeded race at FOC. She was able to run to a new PR of 19:50. She's been a strong front runner for the Yachtsmen all year, if she and her freshman teammate, Malaika Psach, runs, they'll be unbeatable to Cape. Psach would be a big help to Wyman as she would push the pace more. Coming out of Cape is Liv Palma, who made the top 20 at FOC finishing 17th in a 19:27. She got out kicked by Wyman in Freeport, but was well ahead of her last week. In this smaller meet, the two should run side to side again and battle all the way to the finish. Also from Cape watch for their #2, #3, and #4 runners, who are starting to come together more and run as a team. In that group is Sam Feenstra, Emma Shedd and Alicia Lawrence. Two weeks ago at York, their 1-4 split was only 16 seconds. Lawrence wasn't in the same race as her teammates last week, but in this smaller meet, watch for her to go back with Shedd and Feenstra. Sheed and Feenstra went 20:07 and 20:13 last week to go 31st and 34th. Looking to mix things up is Merriconeag's Fiona Ahearne. She didn't run FOC, her last race was at Lake Region where she won in a 20:42. She ran Cape last year going 21:40. She's made big improvements since last year with look to go 21 flat.

Cape can get the win, if they ran like they did last week, but with Lawrence closer to Shedd and Feenstra. If she can do that, that'll be 4 runners in front of Falmouth's #2, and despite the fact that Cape doesn't have a #5 runner, they'll be able to get that win. They lost to Falmouth at Freeport, 37-40, because of their #4 and #5 runners, and same thing last week at FOC, where Falmouth got the better end going 5th and 6th, 267-301. Falmouth averaged 20:37 with a 1:20 spread, Cape had a better average of 20:36, but their spread was still, WAY too wide, 2:55.
