Katherine Leggat-Barr had a slow start to her 2015 xc season because of plantar fascitis, but she's on track for another fast finish now.
The junior was relentless with her pace on Saturday as she cruised to her 2nd straight Regional XC title, and did so by running 18 seconds faster than ever on the Twin Brook course with her 19:10.12 effort.
"It was rewarding to win today." Leggat-Barr said post race
Looking ahead to next week, "I want to lower my personal best on the course, and of course winning is in the back of my mind, but you have to come out and run every race." she said.
Behind Leggat-Barr was teammate Carolyn Todd who battled Yarmouth's Abby Hamilton all the way to the line. Todd just a freshman ran an impressive 19:34.08. Hamilton was right there in 19:34.87.
Yarmouth' Anneka Murrin was in 19:39, with Cape Elizabeth's Liv Palma rounding out the top 5 in 19:57.27
Yarmouth ran away with the team title behind the 3-4 finish of Hamilton & Murrin. The Clippers got a strong 9 place from Grace Cowles, plus a 15th from Georgia Giese. Senior Danielle Laverdiere rounded out the scoring for Yarmouth in 24th.
The Clippers had 55 points, 19 better than runner-up Greely. York ran well for 3rd scoring 89 points. These teams all figure to battle again for the Class B title next week.
