"It felt very good, much better than last year." sophomore Luke Laverdiere of Yarmouth said about his race that earned him Southern Maine Regional Class B individual title
The key to his success on the course, weekly workouts, and Sunday long runs on the course.
Laverdiere who ran in the lead pack the whole race, looked in complete control before pulling away to win in 16:32, three seconds up on Greely senior Ryan Morrison. Freeport's Chandler Vincent 16:35.36 was right there in third with another Falcon Henry Jaques in 4th (16:38.13)
Vincent & Jaques 3-4 finish propelled the Falcons to the team title, as Freeport got a strong run from Eric Brobst in 6th & freshman Alex Les in 15th, but it was 5th runner Thomas Doyle in 31st that was the difference, he ran a 24 second personal best.
Freeport winning total was 59, York edged Greely by 1 point for the runner-up trophy 78-79.
