Northern Maine Class B Regional XC Recap
Interviews: Lauren Brown | Nick Dall | Caleb Love-Webb
Lauren Brown put her foot down on the accelerator from the gun and never looked back.
"I looked at the seeds, and knew I was going have to push myself." the senior from Waterville said of her race plan.
For the second straight week she dispatched the competition early, as she crossed the line in 19:01.29, just off her personal best of 19:00 run on the same course at Festival of Champions
It wasn't easy running that fast alone for Brown, "I felt a little bit tired, I think it was hard going out their by myself, I was all alone after 200m."
Brown will have plenty of competition at next week's state meet as she will match up against defending Class B state champion Katherine Leggat-Barr of Greely, and the rest of the Southern Maine standouts.
The race for second was a good one as Amanda Boyd of John Bapst & Cecilia Morin of Waterville went back and forth before Boyd pulled away for second, her time was 19:36.79, while Morin's was 19:49.90.
Mandy Graham of Presque Isle had a strong run placing 4th while Emma Strong of MDI rounded out the top 5 with her 20:32 effort.
Waterville behind the win from Brown & third place effort Morin captured the team title, The Panthers scored 66 while runner-up Caribou scored 92. Other scorers for Waterville were freshman Ella Ruehsen (13th), Merline Feero (18th), & Gwina Remillard (33rd).
