Girls Recap

Class C state champion Tia Tardy finished 12th at the New England XC Championship at Thetford Academy in Vermont, the junior was the top Maine finisher, earning All-New England honors for the first time in XC. She covered the challenging 5k course at Thetford Academy in 19:31.20. She will be the 6th fastest returner in for 2016.

Finishing close behind Tardy was two time Class B state champion Katherine Leggat-Barr of Greely who placed 17th running 19:37.7. Leggat-Barr was the top Maine finisher at last year's New England meet where she placed 32nd. Right behind Leggat-Barr was her teammate Carolyn Todd who was 20th. Todd just a freshman ran 19:48.60, and was the second best in the meet for all freshman. Both Leggat-Barr & Todd earned All-New England honors with their finishes.

Class A state champion Anna Slager of Gorham crossed the line in 28th place with an effort of 20:09.6

Also running well was Fryeburg Academy sophomore Emily Carty who placed 54th (20:23) with teammate Anna Lastra a step behind in 56th (20:24.3)

Orono who has been the top ranked Maine team all year long finished in 10th place in the team competition. The Red Riots had 3 runners in the top 71, led by Tardy's 12th place, Hannah Steelman was 61st while Kassidy Dill placed 71st.  

Greely was the next Maine team in 19th with 443 points with Yarmouth in 20th at 466.

Boys Recap

On the boys side Hampden Academy junior Paul Casavant was the top Maine runner with his All-New England 20th place finish. Casavant's time for the difficult 5k course was a strong 16:48.0

Greely's Ryan Morrison was the second Maine finisher as the senior from Greely placed 47th running 17:11.1. Class C state champion John Hassett was next as he crossed the line in 55th place (17:16). While Henry Jaques of Freeport was close behind in 61st (17:21.3)

Class A state champion Osman Doorow had a tough race according to his coach. Doorow fell at the start, and was buried in the pack after that. He had also been dealing with sickness in the week leading up to race and dropped out of the race near the 2 mile mark.

Class A state champion Scarborough was the top Maine team as they finished 21st with 498. Falmouth was 22nd with 538, with Greely next in 23rd just 2 points back with 540.
