Hickey & Blethen triumph at Class C SM Regional, Maine Coast boys & St Dom's girls win team titles

Winthrop's Jacob Hickey showed he's ready to challenge for the Class C individual title next week at Belfast.
The senior broke away from the field just after the mile, and then cruised to a dominating 42 second winning margin as he stopped the clock at 16:40.62. His time was the fourth fastest on the day regardless of class.
Hickey who placed second a year ago in this race, ran 28 seconds faster this year and in worse conditions.
Behind him Maine Coast Waldorf senior Tucker Pierce ran to the runner-up finish with his 17:22.76.
In one of the best finishes of the day Wilson Moore of Waynflete held off a diving Nick Neveu of Maine Coast Waldorf by .01, 17:29.93 to 17:29.94.
Dylan Wu gave Maine Coast another low stick with his fifth place effort.
The team title was close but in the end Maine Coast Waldorf with three of the first 5 finishers held off rival Waynflete by two points 70-72, while MVC Champion Boothbay was just 8 points back in third with 80.
