As the light faded at the pole vault the Cony men's track team had already locked up first place in the meet but the teams and remaining fans gathered in the growing darkness to watch the final jumps between Cony's Nic Bolduc and Mount View's Josh Larrabee. Bolduc brought home first place with a jump of 12' with Larrabee taking second at 11'6". In the inaugural meet of the season for both teams Bolduc and Larrabee both posted new personal bests. Bolduc also placed in the 100M, 200M and as part of the 2nd place 4 x 100 team to help the Cony men win with 143 points. Larrabee also posted a new PR in the high jump (5'6") while taking fifth.
Brunswick finished second with 129 points followed by Lisbon (120), Mount View (98), Hall-Dale (82), and Spruce Mountain (14).
On the Women's side Brunswick took first with 183 points, Lisbon was second with 118.5, Spruce Mountain was close behind with 111 followed by Cony (90), Mount View (47.50) and Hall-Dale at 31.
The Dragons closed the day with a 4 X 400 win (4.33). Macy Katanga took Brunswick out to a lead they would not surrender and Isabella Pols anchored the race. Matanga also took first in the 400M. Grace Casey and Maddie Wayne ran the second and third legs. Wayne and Casey led a balanced Brunswick team as each scored in four separate events. Other multi-event scorers were Anna Rider Micaela Ashby, Pols, Kyra Teboe, Elaine Kew, Anna Kousky, Tea Kepler , and Delaina Hildreth.
Leading Lisbon's second place finish was Chase Collier who dominated the hurdles with first place finishes in both the 100 and 300, Collier also took third in the Long Jump.
When Spruce Mountain took the three top spots in the 100M,
it came as no surprise that the trio of Alexis Beardsley, Hanna St.Pierre, and
Avery Williams would figure in Spruce Mountain's 4 x 100 win. Ashlyn Williams,
who also took first in the triple jump and put up points in the 100M and 300M hurdles,
rounded out Spruce Mountain's winning 4 x 100 team.
Cony's cross-country prowess was evident as the Rams were led in scoring by
distance runners Anne Guadalupi, Tara Jorgensen, and first year Cecilia
Guadalupi. The elder Guadalupi took first in the 800, 1600, and was part of a
winning 4 X 800 relay that included her sister, Jorgensen and Zina Gregor.
Gabby Low, who took third in the State last spring, walked away from the field
in the javelin with a throw of 94-05; Low also scored in the shot put.
The highlight of the meet for Mount view was a one-two finish by high jumpers Betsy Hunt 5', and Hannah Oliver, 4'6".
In addition to Nic Bolduc Cony Men's scoring was led by multi-scorers Caleb Richardson (1600 winner, 800, second place), James Oliver, and Elijah Dutil. Dutil took first in both the high jump (5'10") and triple jump (38' 4") and a fourth in long jump (17'10"). All three jumps were personal bests.
Like Cony, the second place Dragon Men showed depth with 15 different scorers. Pacing the Dragons was Seth White who scored in four events including a first in the 100M (11.54). Other first place finishers included Hunter Parker, 300M hurdles (43.61, a new PR), Andrew Chingos 800M (2:13), Will Shaughnessey 3200 (10:34), and Zachary Boyle in the javelin (133'6").
A bright spot for Hall-Dale was all around athlete Jon Whitcomb who took first in the long jump and 110M hurdles, second in the discus and fifth in the pole vault.
