This season I'd like to qualify for the 2 Mile Championship at New Balance Indoor Nationals and hopefully push the sub 9:10 mark. I'm also looking to drop my mile time to around 4:15.
After cross-country ended, I took a full week off from all athletic activity to allow myself to heal mentally and physically from the season. After that, I've been slowly building my mileage back up to get ready for the upcoming track season.
I usually try to keep my mileage around 50-55 miles per week during the season. During a typical week, I'll have a track workout on Tuesday and a planned Sunday afternoon long run. In between those, I'll do some easier runs to keep my base up.
Last year, I learned that it is very important to be aggressive during indoor races when racing in tight packs. I found that there were some instances when I'd get boxed in and wouldn't be able to make a move when I needed to.
I usually like to rest up, listen to music, and visualize the race. As it approaches, however, I like to look within myself and my faith to find a source of strong physical and mental strength that I can use to push myself through the upcoming race.
