What are your goals for the upcoming season?
As of now, I'm just looking to enjoy my final season of indoor. I ran my last cross-country season this fall and lifted to stay in shape, but I've also had some health issues over the past several months that put a strain on my training throughout the off-season and that I'm still dealing with. I would love to overcome those issues, but that is not my main concern at the moment.
What does a typical week look like for you training wise?
I'm not sure I could describe a "typical" week because my workout depends on the location, and the location is somewhat unpredictable. If I'm on a track, that's usually my opportunity to do some harder intervals or a pyramid workout. If I'm at school, I may lift, do agility ladder drills, or work on starts.
What competitions are you most looking forward to this season?
I always look forward to the state meets because I get to see/compete with people I haven't all season.
What was one thing you learned last year that will help you the most this season?
I suppose I learned to prioritize my health. Last year I was nursing an injury all season and this year I'm trying to recover from an illness.
Do you have any pre-race rituals or routines?
I like to stretch and use a foam roller before doing a few accelerations. Other than that, I like to chat with my friends or other runnings competing in my upcoming race.
What is your favorite food to eat the night before a meet?
Anything with carbs. I may be a sprinter, but I still use 'the night before a meet' as an excuse to eat carbs.
What is the best piece of advice anyone has given you?
"The racing is the reward!"
-Lightning McQueen
If you were could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I'm currently trying to plan a trans-European adventure to visit and stay with a number of friends who I dearly miss, but my long-standing dream is backpack across Southeast Asia.
