The Greely girls repeated as Class B State champions at Bates College on Saturday as they tallied 63 points to hold off a strong effort from the Witches of Brewer who were the runner-ups with 54.83 points.

The Rangers are now for their strong distance runners and Saturday was no exception as they scored 42 of the 63 points to lead the way to the fifteen indoor state title in school history.

Junior Carolyn Todd lead the way as she won the mile (5:25.30) and the two mile (11:59.47) to score twenty individual points. In the mile Marin Provencher provided a third place effort, while in the 2 mile Julia Curran nabbed six points with her third place effort.

Greely started it off with an excited come from behind win in the 4x800 as the Rangers led the race for much of the race before Belfast's Emily Jolliffe over took anchor leg Chloe Smith heading into the final lap. Smith didn't give in and waited until the final turn to storm home to claim the victory as she broke the tape in a time of 10:18.05 to give the Rangers ten important points.

Senior Elizabeth Brown provided a spark with her personal best tying 5-2 clearance in the high jump to win the event, the mark was the highest she has jumped this winter.

In the pole vault junior Maggie McCormick earned eight points with her runner-up finish with her 9-0 effort.

Old Town's Oliviah Damboise had an outstanding day as the senior repeated as pole vault champion clearing 9-6, she also defended her triple jump title with a personal best 36-4 3/4. She also added a third in the long jump.

Cape Elizabeth's Darcy Cochran repeated as the 55 meter hurdle champion as she clocked a personal best 8.51. That mark equals the state lead, and ties the sophomore state record, and eight fastest performance in state history.

Belfast's Junne McIntire a sophomore won the 55m dash in a personal best 7.43,  was the state runner-up in the 200m (26.57), and ran a huge anchor leg on the 4x200 to give the Lions the state title by .01.

In the shot put Waterville's Sarah Cox threw a personal best and state leading effort of 39-1 1/2 in defending her title.

Ashley Anderson of MDI successfully defended her 200m state title as the senior clocked 26.28, she was the runner-up in the 55m dash.
