As expected the York boy's cruised to the team win at the Western Maine Conference indoor track & field championship at the University of Southern Maine Friday night as the wildcats scored 228 points to outdistance runner-up Greely by 132 points.


York was paced by outstanding track athlete Nick Rainforth who was a double winner. Rainforth captured the 400m dash in a time of 54.26 to win the event by over a second. In the 200m dash he speed out to an early lead and never looked back as he stopped the clock at 24.46, his winning margin was almost a minute. He closed out his night with an impressive lead off leg in the open 4x200m relay giving York a lead they wouldn't give up.


In the jumps Jon Rodrigues provided 20 key points for York as he swept the long and triple jumps. His winning effort in the long jump was 20-6 1/2, while in the triple he recorded a mark of 40-6 1/2. He also added eight more points with his runner-up finish in the 55m dash.

Other winners for the Wildcats were Jon Burke who won the senior 55m hurdles in a season best tying time of 8.09. Connor Daley in the junior shot with a throw of 39-8 and Hayden Henriksen with a 5-6 clearance in the junior high jump. Both the junior 4x200m and open 4x200m relays were victorious.


Chris Koskinen of Yarmouth was selected as top field event performer after his 12-6 win in the pole vault.

Greely dominated the distance events as they opened with a win in the 4x800m relay. Senior Luke Marsanskis lead a 1-2 finish in the mile with Riley Franklin. The duo would switch it up in the 2 mile as Franklin crossed the line first in 10:26.92 followed by Marsanskis. Matthew Todd added a win in the 800 clocking 2:04.31

Jacob Michaud of Wells won the junior 55m hurdles in 8.40, and then came back to clock a personal best 7.11 to win the junior 55m dash.
