First Results of Season, Vacation Invitational

The Vacation Invitational at South Portland featured some top performances to open the 2019 outdoor track and field season.

Cheverus sprint star Emma Gallant opened her season with a speedy 26.20, while teammate Victoria Bossong went up in distance to the 800m where she was equally impressive clocking a 2:19.26 in her first effort.

Emma White took the 100m hurdles in 15.88 plus won the long jump with a leap of 15-5 3/4.

In the high jump Nyagoa Bayak wasted no time clearing a high bar as she sailed over 5-8 to win the event, while Kaleisha Towle of South Portland won the 300m hurdles in a strong early effort of 50.31

South Portland's Rebek Hunnewell-Dunphe dominated the shot and discus winning with efforts of 35-4 and 99-5.

On the boys side Mahamed Sharif of Westbrook worked on his speed winning the 400m in 51.52, then coming back to add another victory with his 23.04 over 200m.

Teammate Dante Lingley was impressive winning the 100m in 11.32 and 23.29 for 200m. Indoor 55m hurdle champion Cameron Holloway opened his outdoor hurdling campaign with a 15.82 for the 110s.

In the jumps Kamundala Crispin of Lewiston was a double winner as he leaped 19-9 1/2 in the long and 42-7 in the triple.

In the shot Jared Pierce of Biddeford had a huge 50-5 1/2 throw to win, this was his first time over 50ft, while Jordan Carter of Lewiston was victorious in the javelin with a strong 160-2 effort.
