What has your summer training consisted of? How much mileage you putting in?

My summer mileage isn't looking too bad, although I did start the summer off injured and had to take 4 weeks off. Since then, it's been about building up my base and then slowly adding speed. My summer mileage definitely won't be as high as past years, but I'm not too worried as I figured out that resting your body is very important as well.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

I will be easing into the competitive spirit slowly this year due to my injury but I hope to break 18 minutes for 5k, place high at regionals and states, and make it past New England's, hopefully qualifying for Footlocker Nationals in San Diego. 

    What is your favorite workout that makes you feel most prepared for success?

    My favorite workout that makes me feel prepared for success is probably mile repeats; it always feels good when you hit the time you were aiming for (or maybe go a little faster) and then imagine yourself being able to put three of those miles together in a 5k or even run a little faster to hit your goal time.

    What did you learn from last xc season that will help you improve in 2019?

    Rest is key. I think I really overworked myself and once I got into the post-post season (after New England's) I was gassed. I did not rest well continuing into the indoor and outdoor seasons which ended with me getting an injury and not performing very well towards the end of the year. This year, I will be making sure I rest at the appropriate times.

    Do you have a favorite course?

    I think my favorite course is honestly Gorham's home course because it is flat so you can get a PR and I think it's a good spectator course.

    What do you love most about running?

    This is hard because there are so many things I love about running. I guess my favorite thing is probably the feeling of freedom you get when you just go out and run by yourself with some music. It gives you a chance to think and it's during these runs I don't even feel like I'm running, there's no pain, I feel like I can just go forever.

    Now that you're a senior how is the college search going?

    My college search started last year as I like to be on top of things like that. I toured many colleges including Florida State, UCLA, Temple, and San Diego State. In the end, I decided that I wanted to commit early so I could feel more at ease. At the beginning of the summer I verbally committed to Florida State and I couldn't be any happier with my decision. 

    How is your team looking for the fall?

    I think we are a very young team still. We have a lot of fresh new faces this year that I haven't seen race yet so I cannot predict how they will do. However, I am very confident that if my team puts the work in, we will make it to states again.

    What shoes will you train in and race in?

    My training shoes frequently switch around but I will be racing in Saucony spikes.

    Favorite subject in school?

    My favorite subject is definitely English; I love to read and write.

    What is your Pet Peeve ?

    I think my biggest pet peeve is just when people act like they are cooler than everyone else. Everyone was created equal and I don't think people should be put down based on their social status. 

    Lastly, if you were stranded on an island with three things what would they be?

    Water, food, and a boat to leave so I could get back home!!
