All-Time Discus Programs
We've been working to expand our vast results database this summer adding in several state championship meets dating back to 1995, and the plan is to continue throughout the summer. While we don't have every team's top athletes of all-time we wanted to take a look at the data we had to see what programs (schools) had the top performers in every track and field event outdoors.
We scored each team just like a cross-country meet, giving 1 point for the fastest time, and so on. A program's score is based on the top five performers in the event with the top 7 athletes acting as displacers.
Today we are going to take a look at the boy's discus. Below are the top five programs based on the results we currently have in the database. For the complete list of 101 teams visit the link below.

Cheverus High School ranks as the top discus program back through 1995. Leading the way for the Stags is Nick White with his 162-4 personal best, his brother John 157-0 is second-ranked while his other brother Matt ranks third is 156-1. Cheverus averaged 156-9 for their scoring five.
The Tigers of Biddeford are the second-ranked program. Matt Brady leads the way with a 172-9 personal best. Behind him, four other throwers have thrown above 150 feet as the Tigers.
Brewer is the third-ranked program with Austin Lufkin's 184-0 personal best which ranks second-best in state history. Behind him, Jacob McCluskey ranks second with his 174-9 effort.
The Red Riots of South Portland are the fourth-ranked program led by Daniel Guiliani's 169-9 1/2 best. Jeff Tulley and Michael Leconte rank second and third for SP, Tulley threw 166-1 and Leconte 162-8.
Rounding out the top five programs is Waterville. The Purple Panther's top thrower is Trever Gray who has a personal best of 165-2. Four other throwers added throws over 144-1 for Waterville.
