All-Time 400m Programs
We've been working to expand our vast results database this summer adding in several state championship meets dating back to 1995, and the plan is to continue throughout the summer. While we don't have every team's top athletes of all-time we wanted to take a look at the data we had to see what programs (schools) had the top performers in every track and field event outdoors.
We scored each team just like a cross-country meet, giving 1 point for the fastest time, and so on. A program's score is based on the top five performers in the event with the top 7 athletes acting as displacers.
Today we are going to take a look at the girl's 400m. Below are the top five programs based on the results we currently have in the database. For the complete list of 93 teams visit the link below.

Scarborough is the top-ranked program with all five scorers having run under sixty seconds. Emily Tolman leads the way with a personal best of 57.96. Gaby Panagakos is next with a 58.64 and then sprint star Katie Toye at 59.18. The Red Storm have had six total athletes under sixty and averaged an impressive 58.86 for their scoring five.
Class C Orono has had a strong tradition of quarter-milers as the Red Riots are the second-ranked program. Olivia Alford is the top sprinter at 58.47 with 2019 graduate Camille Kohtala not far behind with her 58.57 personal best. Orono has their entire scoring five under sixty seconds and averaged 59.16.
Cheverus is the third-ranked program. The Stags are led by state record holder Victoria Bossong who ran 53.81 as a sophomore last year. Behind her, they have the second-fastest 400m runner in state history with Emily Turner's 56.57. 2020 graduate Emma Gallant is the seven fastest in state history with her personal best 57.03. Cheverus has the fastest scoring five average at 57.76.
Mt Ararat is the next program, they are led by Jesse Wilcox's 57.64 personal best. The Eagles will move up once Cuyler Goodwin's personal best of 57.17 gets entered into the database. The scoring five averaged 59.65 for Mt Ararat.
Rounding out the top five programs is Bangor. The Rams have has three girls run faster than sixty seconds led by Brittany Chapman's 59.24. Bangor averaged 59.91 for their scoring five.
