All-Time Maine Girls Racewalk Programs

Abby Lochala (#6) helped Mt Blue become the top 1600 race walk program in Maine, her personal best pf 8:12.25 ranks fourth-best in Cougar history.

All-Time Racewalk Programs

We've been working to expand our vast results database this summer adding in several state championship meets dating back to 1995, and the plan is to continue throughout the summer. While we don't have every team's top athletes of all-time we wanted to take a look at the data we had to see what programs (schools) had the top performers in every track and field event outdoors.

We scored each team just like a cross-country meet, giving 1 point for the fastest time, and so on. A program's score is based on the top five performers in the event with the top 7 athletes acting as displacers.

Today we are going to take a look at the girl's racewalk. Below are the top five programs based on the results we currently have in the database. For the complete list of the 91 teams visit the link below.

The Mt Blue Cougars are the top girls' racewalk program in state history. Led by state record holder Caitlin Bonney's 7:19.77 the Cougars have two other under eight minutes as well. Elena Yates ranks sixth-best all-time in Maine history while Carly Lochala clocked a best of 7:49.36. Mt Blue averaged 7:49.04 per walker.

The Rams of Gorham are next with three walkers under eight minutes. Katie Flanders 7:33.92 personal best is eighth-best in state history. Jennifer Thuotte walked 7:40.35 and Laura Turner turned in a best-effort of 7:54.64. The Rams averaged 7:55.01 per walker.

Caribou ranks as the third-best program with Hannah Saunders's 7:36.32 leading the way. Emily Soderberg is second for the Vikings with a personal best of 7:43.92. Caribou averaged 7:56.58 for their top five walkers.

Behind the second-fastest walker in state history Abby Dunn the Edward Little Red Eddies rank as the fourth-best program. Dunn's 7:21.71 leads the way for EL, which averaged 8:07.45 per walker.

Belfast rounds out the top five programs with Lila Maycock leading the way with her 7:54.55. The Lions averaged 8:13.33 per walker.
