Mt. Desert Island junior Amelia Vandongen is the top returner for 2024 in Class B. Van Dongen who had an injury-riddled season got healthy at the end of the season to place third in the state meet and then 33rd in the New England meet. Seven athletes who cracked the twenty-minute barrier in 2023 will be back next fall.
The team title is up next fall with a handful of teams expected to be in the mix. Freeport is the top returning team based on 5k data from 2023. York who graduated a couple of juggernauts still expects to compete for a third consecutive title while Mt Desert Island and Greely look to have what it takes to challenge.
