Teanne Ewings Sets New 2 Mile Record

Houlton/GHCA junior Teanne Ewings has wasted little time putting her name in the record books in her first indoor track and field season. Entering the EMITL regular season meet today, Teanne had clocked the sixth fastest mile in state history (5:03.64)) and third fastest for 2 miles (10:44.34), both times leading the state regardless of class.

RESULTS

Indoor All-Time Bests

On Friday afternoon Ewings tackled the 800m and 2 mile. In the 800m, Teanne clocked a new personal best of 2:20.33, the second-best effort in the state so far this season. In the 2 mile, Ewings smashed her previous best time by sixteen seconds as she stopped the clock at 10:28.43. The time surpassed the previous state all-time best at the distance of 10:29.04 set back in 2012 by Waterville's Bethanie Brown at the New Balance Indoor Nationals.

Ewings came into the meet shooting for 10:40 in the event. "I was feeling good though." She said of her record-breaking effort.

Additionally, her time set a new EMITL and New Balance Field House record for the 2-mile distance. Her time is currently the fastest in the United States for the 2023-24 indoor season.
