The Bangor girls finished strong as they came from behind in the 4x200m relay to win the event (1:50.07) and clinch their third state title in the last four years as they held off a strong challenge from Scarborough to win 78-74.
Sophia Chase won the 200m
Bangor relied heavily on the sprints for their victory. The Rams were led by junior Sophia Chase who won three events. Chase opened the meet leaping 17-8 1/4 to win the long jump, took the 400m in 60.65, and came from behind in the 200m to win on a lean at the line in 26.30. Senior Madeline Thai clocked 7.56 for fourth in the 55m dash and added fifth place in the 55m hurdles while junior Bayley Fryer was fifth in the 200m (26.81). Alice Thibodeau came up big for Bangor in the pole vault as she cleared a personal best of 9-6 to finish second.
Windham senior Tayla Pelletier was a double winner as she clocked a personal best of 8.46 to win the 55m hurdles. Her effort is the ninth-best in Maine indoor history. Pelletier won the triple jump coming from behind on her final leap to notch a 36-8 1/2 effort. She also finished third in the long jump for twenty-six points on the day.
Falmouth opened the meet with the ninth-best 4x800 in state history as the team of Maeve Ginevan, Emory Westburg, Sara Tennent, and Georgia Moon.
