The Scott Laliberte Invitational traditionally serves as the season opener for many Central Maine teams and athletes, and this year was no exception. Competitors lined up for the unique coed race on the course that will also host the state championships for the first time in November. While the Laliberte layout differs from the championship course, Friday's 4k provided an early test of fitness.
The meet also showcased several athletes who made significant improvements from their 2024 performances, signaling big potential for the season ahead.
Daegan Creamer of Erskine Academy topped the most improved as the sophomore took over five minutes off his finishing time from last fall. Creamer went from 24:03 down to 18:54
Waterville's Charley Flees showed he put in the work this summer, dropping his finishing time over four minutes from last fall.
