The Ellsworth Invitational marked one of the season's first major cross-country meets, drawing 23 teams and 129 boys to the starting line. The race highlighted several athletes who showed major progress from their 2024 performances-an early sign of exciting things to come this fall.

        
MAINE XC RANKINGS: BOYS XC | GIRLS XC
Caribou's Andrew Hewitt stood out as the meet's most improved runner, chopping an impressive 5:34 off his time from last fall. Hemon's Joseph Belanger wasn't far behind, slashing 4:05, while Orono's Jack Hildebrand followed with a 3:58 improvement. In total, 16 athletes ran more than a minute faster than their 2024 marks.
