MaineTrackXC Sophomore Girls 2010 Rewind
There where 5 sophomores in the top 20 runners in the combined state meet results, leading the way was South Portland's Nyajock Pan, who had her best run of her high school career with her 6th place at the Class A state meet, running a personal best 19:14. Pan's run was the surprise of the state meet, the week before she placed only 13th in the Western Maine regional. Pan's time at the state meet was good for the 10th fastest 5k performance of 2010, she followed that up with a strong showing at the New England meet where she placed 67th. Another standout in Class A was Charlotte Pierce (Massabesic), Pierce had her strongest run of the year at the Class A state meet where she paced 8th (19:36), which led her team to a 3rd place finish and a berth into the New England Championship meet. In Class B, Adrienne Carmack (John Bapst) was the top sophomore runner, Carmack had a great year leading her team to the Class B state title. At the state meet Carmack led the way with a 6th place finish (19:51).Another runner who had a strong year was Samantha Cox (Bonny Eagle), Cox finished the season very strong with an 8th at the Western Maine Regional & a 10th place finish at the Class A state meet, where she ran a personal best (19:45)
Nyajock Pan Top Sophomore
Nyajock Pan (pictured above) was the top sophomore performer in 2010. Pan clocked a personal best 19:14 at the Class A state meet to place 6th. Her time 19:14 was the 10th fastest performance of the year over 5k. Nyajock added an 11th place finish at the SW Classic, 13th place at the Western Maine Regional 7 finished the season with a 67th place finish in the New England meet. Pan showed she's a big meet runner with her run at the end of the season.
2. Adrienne Carmack-John Bapst
Adrienne Carmack (#337) pictured above had a great season in Class B for the John Bapst Cruasders, Carmack's 6th place finish at the state meet was important in Bapst's winning the state title. Adrienne was very consistently very good this year, her lowest finish at an in state meet all year was 8th. Carmack placed 8th at the FOC, 3rd in PVC Championship, 5th in Eastern Maine Regional, 6th in the Class B State Meet, & finished it off with a 56th place at the NE meet.
3. Charlotte Pierce-Massabesic
Charlotte Pierce (pictured above) was a standout for the Massabesic Mustangs in 2010. Pierce finished the season off in fine fashion placing 7th in the regional meet & following up that effort with an 8th place in the Class A state meet. Charlotte ran her personal best (19:36) at the state meet, this was good for the 15th fastest 5k on the season. Pierce also added a 20th at the SW Classic, 12th at the FOC, and also added her first individual race victory in a SMAA meet @ Bonny Eagle
