MaineTrackXC Senior Boys 2010 Rewind

       The senior class finished off their four year run with some strong performances in 2010. A few highlight from the season where Faisal Noor (EL) clocking 16:09 over 5k at Messalonskee for the 4th fastest time in the state on the season. Noor had a strong season that saw him finish 2nd in the KVAC, 5th in the Eastern Regional, & 10th in the Class A state meet. His efforts earned him MTCCCA honorable mention honors. In Class B Christian Sleeper (Caribou), led his team to the promise land with a solid season, but it was his state meet performance that capped off a great 4yr xc career. Sleeper finished 7th in the Eastern Maine regional, a sub par race for him, but he rebounded in a big way with a 4th place finish at the Class B state meet, running a seasonal and personal best of 16:36.9, the fastest time by any senior at this year's state meets and more importantly gave his team a low number in the team competition. Caribou would win the title by 7 points over Falmouth to become the first Eastern Maine team since the 1998 Ellsworth squad to win.  Cheverus's Jack Terwilliger, the odds on favorite to win the Class A title before the season began was once again hampered with injuries which kept him from doing any substantial training from the middle of September and into early October. Despite the injuries Terwilliger clocked a 16:19 for his fastest effort of the year, which was good for 6th fastest on the year. Jack showed his toughness with his finishes down the stretch, finishing 9th in the Western Regional, then an impressive 4th in the state meet. Terwilliger was honorable mention All-State for his efforts this fall.  Another standout in Class A was Logan Marshall (Gorham), Marshall had a great year placing 5th in the SW Classic, 13th in FOC, 5th in Western Maine regional & saved his best race for the Class A state meet were he finished 3rd. Logan had a season best time of 16:28 on the season, and his efforts earned him honorable mention All-State honors. Cony senior Will Lundquist has a great finish to his season, finishing 6th at the KVAC, runner-up at the Eastern Maine regional & then a 5th at the Class A state meet. Lundquist ran a personal bets of 16:40 at the Eastern Regional meet as he surprised everyone with his performance, his efforts at the end of the season earned him honorable mention all-state honors. Another runner that had a great senior year and if there was a most improved award he would certainly be a top candidate was Tom Hague (Scarborough). Hague was 46th in the 2009 state meet, this year Hague ran a personal best 16:48 to finish 6th in the Class A state. Tom was a major reason for the success of the Red Storm this fall as they added their 6 title in the last 8 years. Hague was 12th in SW Classic, 12th at FOC, 3rd in Western Maine regional, & 6th in Class A state meet.
