Boys Highlights
The USM Relays provided some top notch competition and the athletes didn't disappoint in week 2 several new state leaders were set. Adrian Reid (South Portland) dropped the state lead in the 55m almost .2, when he clocked 6.74. Isaiah Spofford (Waterville) got pushed in the 200m, winning in a photo finish for the top time in the state at a KVAC meet this week, 23.69. Old Town's Jake Leithiser had a big week setting 3 state leaders, 52.65 (400m), 6-4 (HJ) & 7.97 IN THR 55M Hurdles. Nick Morris (Scarborough) clocked the #4 time in the country for 800m on Sunday at BU (1:58.45). Harlow Ladd (Messalonskee) opened his season with fine performance in the mile 4:36.16, while his KVAC counterpart Jaron Jones (Mt. Blue) set the new standard for 2 miles (10:12.49). McKenzie Gary (Mt. Ararat) narrowly missed adding a 3rd state leading performances in the 200m, but he did extend his LJ leader out to 20-8 1/2. In the Shot Michael Burgess (Greely) added to his state leading by 2" getting out to 51'7. The Relays saw Mt. Ararat become to first team under 8:45, when they clocked 8:44.74, while Scarborough dropped their 4x200m leader under 1:37, with their 1:36.91 win at USM Relays.

Girls Highlights
State leaderboard was re-written in week 2 action as more teams and athletes competed.
55m dash Nicole Kirk (Scarborough) opens her season in fine form 7.66, Teal Jackson (Brewer) lowers her 200m & 400m state leading marks, Kyia Jensen (Brunswick) drops the 800m leading time by over 4 seconds. Amber Dostie (BE) cruises in her first indoor mile race, while Katie McMahon (Brunswick) opens with a sub 12 in the 2mile. The jumping events saw 4 new state leaders with Grace Maclean (Bangor) going 502 in the HJ, Lindsey Folsom (Cony) 10-3 in the vault, Maria Curit (Biddeford) 16-1 1/2 in the LJ, & Emilia Scheemaker(Scarborough) 35-1 in the triple jump. Both Relays also had new state leaders with Mt. Ararat lowering there 4x200m (1:53.78) with Brunswick dropping the 4x800m 25 plus seconds.
